The Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute held a discussion with members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences delegation on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the institute’s conference hall. Dr. Melesse Maryo, the Director-General of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, welcomed the delegation and present about the institute’s overall activities and ongoing projects.

Professor Yunting Fang, Deputy Director of the Institute of Applied Ecology (IAE), also gave a presentation about their institute, and a discussion ensued. During the discussion, Dr. Feleke Woldeyes, Deputy Director-General of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, highlighted the similarities between China and Ethiopia and emphasized the numerous areas of collaboration between the two institutions.

The meeting concluded with the identification of potential areas of cooperation, and a memorandum of understanding was prepared to formalize the agreement to work together.
