On July 21, 2025, senior management leaders of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute met with French Ambassador to Ethiopia, Alexis Lamech, and his team at the Director General’s office in Addis Ababa. The meeting focused on the conservation and management of Ethiopia’s biodiversity resources, their sustainable use, and benefit-sharing of genetic resources.

During the meeting, there were detailed discussions on areas of cooperation, particularly in providing climate-resistant seeds and related technologies from the gene bank to the community. Other topics included capacity building of laboratory infrastructure and field equipment, as well as the genotyping of seeds in the gene bank. An agreement was made to collaborate closely on these issues in the future.
