Internationally for the second time and for the first time in our country Biosphere Day was celebrated with the theme “Its About Life” at the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute on November 03, 2023.

Dr. Melesse Maryo, the Director General of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, gave a welcome speech and Ms. Lilian, UNESCO representative of Addis Ababa also conveyed a message.

“The Biosphere Reserve Approach: an initiative for multifaceted benefits” document presented by Dr. Tadesse Woldemariam, Executive Director of the Environment and Coffee Forest Forum (ECFF) and “Ethiopian Biosphere Reserve Network: Establishment, undertaking, achievements & Challenges” document also presented by Dr. Feleke Woldeyes Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute for discussion.

Agnuaw (Gambella) Biosphere Reserve Nomination process: An initiative under Progress document was presented by Mr. Solomon Kebede, Executive Director of MELCA Ethiopia and discussed by the advisory bodies.
