Planting seeds of wheat accessions selected through participatory research was conducted at the Ginir community seedbank

The planting of the landrace wheat accession selected through participatory research supported by the Seeds for Resilience Project was conducted at the Ginir community seed bank. This initiative aimed to increase the amount of seed available for scaling up and distribution to farmers. The planting was done on more than two hectares of land held by the Ginir community seedbank. A tractor was used to facilitate the land preparation and labeling. Later, a field layout was carried out, and the land was divided into four blocks to be used for planting the four landrace wheat accessions. Researchers from the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, and  Goba Biodiversity Center researchers, Ginir Agricultural Development Office experts, and farmers participated in seed preparation and planting activities.
