The management members of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute attended Hora Arsadi, in the Cheleleka district of Bishoftu city to carry out a program planting indigenous seedlings.
The Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, Bishoftu City Environmental Protection Authority, Abageda, DSW German Foundation, local safety net members, and the community all participated in the event.
The program was inaugurated with a special dedication by Abageda.
Dr. Karta Kaske, Director General of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, expressed his joy at being present and emphasized the institute’s commitment to conserving the forest ecosystem.
He stated that the institute will work towards protecting indigenous species, endangered species, economically important species, and species that provide various services. Dr. Kaske highlighted the Green Footprint as an important opportunity and mentioned that the institute has contributed 21 million indigenous seedlings to the program.
He also mentioned that the institute is implementing the Green Footprint Program in collaboration with stakeholders in areas where its centers are located.
Dr. Kaske expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by the Green Footprint Program and thanked all parties involved. He emphasized the importance of carefully nurturing the planted trees.
