The Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute (EBI) recently held a planning coordination meeting with the center coordinators for the year 2018 on August 25-26, 2025, at the Institute’s conference hall.
Mr. Girum Faris, the Centers and Botanical Gardens Coordinator, delivered a welcoming message and introduced the purpose of the forum.
In his opening speech, Dr. Abiyot Berhanu, Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, emphasized that reforms would benefit the centers, with projects being transferred from their budgets to the centers. He also stressed the importance of operating based on the principle of “one plan, one report.”
He further mentioned that centers should focus on building strong public relations and that competitions would be organized between them.
Mr. Masresha Yaman, Executive Officer of Strategic Affairs at the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, presented the Institute’s 2018 plan, considering the budget. He highlighted the significance of the connection between the centers and the CEOs, emphasizing that the centers’ activities should align with the main goals.
The Lead executives of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute detailed the activities and outcomes of their collaborative efforts with the centers and discussed the results.
The planning process concluded with closing remarks and future work directions provided by Dr. Karta Kaske, Director General of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute, and Dr. Abiyot Berhanu, Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute.
