The Ethiopian Biodiversity institute (EBI) has provided training on HIV / AIDS to its staff on the occasion of International HIV / AIDS Day.
HIV / AIDS has claimed the many lives since 1989 the first outbreak in Ethiopia. According to the experts, the high consumption of chat, drug and alcohol use in the community is contributing to the prevalence of the Virus.
It was mentioned that the death caused by HIV/AIDS is taking the lives of young and productive population which in turn causing economic and social damage to the country. Addis Ababa Tesfa Goh, a public health expert, said during the training that the number of people infected with the virus has doubled due to the low public awareness of the disease and society is losing sight of the disease at present.
